Yesterday, was a fairly productive day. I went for a run along the Thames, then in the afternoon headed to my third ever Capoeira class. The first lesson was two weeks ago, it left me on a high, days afterwards my body just ached all over. The Brazilian marshal art is part fight, part dance, part game, part philosophy. Whenever you train, there's always Capoeira music that accompanies the practise. The music gives you strength, it has a rhythm that you can move to, it's very motivational. I've included one of the songs with this post.
I am still new to Capoeira, it's unlike anything that I've done before. I did Judo for about three lessons, once when I was about 10. I didn't like it much, I wasn't very good at it. No one told me that to be good at something you have to practice. It's funny, possibly someone had told me that, but I probably wasn't listening. Sometimes, you just need to learn things, that everyone else already knows, for yourself.
This class lasted 2 and a half hours. I was energized afterwards. We started with a warm up, then went on to practice some moves. The most basic move is the Ginga, where you constantly move both the legs and arms, back and forth in time to the music. The Ginga is a core Capoeira move, many other moves spin out of the Ginga.
